The newly refitted building opens it’s doors on February 1st 2014 with a fresh programme of workshops, events and activities to showcase the talent of local young people. somewhereto_ is a nationwide project funded by a £7m injection by The Big Lottery in 2012 and provided by youth engagement agency Livity and YouTube. somewhereto_ provides 16-25 year olds access to free spaces where they can do the things they love.
Last summer somewhereto_ launched re:store, a nationwide campaign to reclaim the high street, which saw creative pop up spaces all over the country run by young people. Working in partnership with Depot Arts and the Concrete Garden, somewhereto_ has relaunched re:store in The Imaginarium, Possil.
Over the next six months from December 2013 to May 2014 the space will be available for 16-25 year olds to use as a space to do what they love. In addition to it’s existing programme of craft, cookery and garden workshops, as well as regular swap shop meets and song-writing classes, The Imaginarium will provide a range of activities for young people over the next six months. The beginning of the year will see music, film, street art and enterprise opportunities arise and an open platform for the community to be creative will emerge.
The relaunch provides a taster of these things to come and showcases the talents of 16-25 year olds. It will see young artists use surrounding walls as their canvas in live art displays, sample workshops and pop-up stalls dotted around the space and live music play out to the crowds.
