In just over a week’s time, Scots throughout the world will get together to celebrate their nation’s baird as part of traditional Burns Night celebrations. If you’ve still to decide where you’re going to fill your sonsie face then Glasgow has a fun-filled calendar from suppers to ceilidhs to help you get into the spirit of things. Here’s a round-up of what’s happening in the city:
If you're looking for somewhere for supper on Burns Night in Glasgow, Arisaig is the place to go! The restaurant and bar in Merchant Square throws an epic feast each year, with a delicious dinner, live Scottish music, and local comedians leading the way. Serving some of the best Scottish fare in Glasgow throughout the year, celebrate Burns Night in style here.
Enjoy a Burns Night with a difference at Wellpark Brewery, where you will take a walk around the Home of Scotland's favourite lager. The tour will also stop off at the Tennent's Training Academy where you can enjoy a wee dram and dine on the locally sourced haggis, neeps and tatties.
The luxurious Corinthian Club will also be celebrating the life and works of Robert Burns with a special Burns menu in their brasserie bar along with their Whisky Experience menu for those looking for a dram with their dinner. Special bespoke suppers are also available for groups wanting to mark the occasion with a private occasion.
The Finnieston will be hosting a luxurious Burns Night Feast. Their spin on the supper includes their signature seafood and of course, their own take on haggis, neeps and tatties too. With the drams flowing and some exquisite whisky cocktails, this is the perfect place for discerning foodies to toast Robert Burns.
Awarding restaurant, The Gannet, will be partnering with Bruichladdich whisky to host two Burns suppers on Sunday, January 24 and Tuesday 26 featuring homemade haggis, a piper & traditional Burns readings by special guest speakers. The restaurant will be running a 4 course modern Scottish menu with a complimentary whisky.
Enjoy a three course Burns Supper at 29 along with entertainment from Wee Jock's Big Braw Scottish Night. Featuring the works of Burns colliding with contemporary Scottish humour, songs both new and loved, hilarious poems, competitions, sketches and more to get you into the celebratory spirit!
Oran Mor always hosts an atmospheric Burns Night supper in Glasgow, with this year's celebration taking place on Saturday 23 January, in the stunning Auditorium of the converted church. Hosted by Iain Robertson, the three course feast will be accompanied by poetry and traditional music.
Head to The Pipers' Tryst at The National Piping Centre over Burns' weekend from the January 22-25 to dine on a special menu 'celebrating the life, times and genius of the great man'. The menu includes a dram to start and followed by haggis along with other Scottish favourites.
Join in the Rabbie Burns celebrations at Stravaign on Saturday, January 23 and Sunday 24 at 3pm for their legendary 'Burn's Brunch'. Enjoy an afternoon of piping, poems and award winning performance from the Caledonian Cowboy accompanied by a three course menu and a wee dram.
Ashton Lane is an atmospheric spot to celebrate Burn's Night in the heart of the West End. Ubiquitous Chip toasts the poet with their fabulous Supper, promising "a nicht of cheerful chantin’ and reelin’" they'll be offering an exquisite four course dinner with coffee, sweetmeats and of course the obligatory dram to toast the haggis. Added entertainment on the night includes a piper and orator as well as live music and ceilidh with The Last Tram to Auchenshoogle.
Enjoy traditional Haggis, Neeps and Tatties in unique Willow Tea Rooms, designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, the surroundings will provide an iconic Glasgow feel to your Burns celebrations.
