Homegrown talent set to wow crowds at festive lights switch on

A raft of young, Scottish talent will be wowing crowds at Loch Lomond Shores’ Festive Lights Switch On this month!

Your Radio will be hosting the live entertainment on Sunday 20th November, with a number of singer-songwriters, dancers, pop-opera singers and more gracing the stage. All of the acts are homegrown, with many coming from the local area.

Singers throughout the day include Jemma Stevenson from Glasgow, who recently won two local talent contests, The Voice of Glasgow 2016 and Pride Idol 2015. Singer-songwriter Ally McNeilly from Cumbernauld, Angel Gold from Larkhall, and pop-opera singer Nicola Cassells from Ayr are all scheduled to perform, and Take That fans will enjoy Dumbarton tribute band, Take This.

Local singer-songwriter, Rachelle Rhienne, from Balloch, will also be performing. Rachelle released her debut single and was crowned winner of UK's Future Music Songwriting 2015. Young talent in the form of dance group, Dance Station, and singers from performing arts school, Singer Station, based in Alexandria, will complete the lineup.

Karaoke, magic show and storytelling will round out the live entertainment on the Your Radio stage, but this is just some of what families can expect at the event. The day kicks off at 12noon with Santa’s arrival on his pantomime carriage. The farmers market and craft market will be on site to tempt visitors with local produce, street food, and handmade items. Plenty more entertainment will be on offer, with fire-eating displays, tricks and fun from a giant stilt walking angel, and clouds of giant bubbles. Funfair rides, face painting in the Mall, and free crafting activity in the RSPB Shop will keep youngsters happy throughout the day.

Clare Gemmell, Loch Lomond Shores’ General Manager, said: “It is brilliant to get a chance to showcase so much amazing talent. We have been inundated with musicians and groups wanting to appear, but we are already packing tons in. I hope that everyone comes along and enjoys this great local free event.”
