After the roaring success of Argyll’s first boutique music festival, Gig on the Goil, Lochgoilhead will play host to another spectacular music event taking place over St Andrew’s weekend – and it’s free!
‘The Wee G’ is a music festival designed to thank those who supported Gig on the Goil and made it the success it became. The event will welcome a variety of top class musical talent including the best acoustic, contemporary and traditional artists from around the country at Argyll Holiday’s Drimsynie Estate on November 26. A delicious selection of local food and drink will also be on offer and there will be plenty of activities to keep the little ones entertained over the weekend.
Lisa Allan-Downie, head of marketing at Argyll Holidays said: “We couldn’t quite believe the success of Gig on the Goil so naturally we are extremely excited to host The Wee G. The event will debut some fantastic musicians from up and down the country and as a thank you for everyone’s support with Gig on the Goil, we have made The Wee G completely free of charge.”
The main stage will be located in the entertainment hall in Drimsyne House Hotel and will feature a set from Sergeant frontman Nick Mercer Jr. Having previously played T in the Park and Glastonbury, Nick has since embarked on a successful solo career and will be returning to Argyll for the second time. The wider line-up includes bagpipe pop band Rollin’ Drones and Paolo Nutini tribute act “Paolo Martini”. Drimsynie Estate is also excited to welcome back local favourites Ri Chéile and indie rockers The Snuts.
A host of solo acts from across Scotland will perform intimate acoustic sets in the cosy Fireside Bar, where guests can relax and enjoy a selection of malt whiskys by the fire. The weekend will conclude with a ceilidh hosted by The AJ Macinnes Ceilidh Band.
For the children, everyone’s favourite squirrels – Rusty & Rosie will be performing their famous show, plus in-house entertainer Ajay will be doing a short set to kick-start the day.
The event kicks off at 2pm on Saturday 26th November and as it is free of charge, no tickets are required for entry.
Argyll Holidays have a range of accommodation available for the weekend, with prices starting at £32 per person - www.argyllholidays.com.
