It is a unique building in Glasgow with a spectacular covered courtyard with glazed roof supported on pink steel arches that fits a variety of requirements.
As an events venue it has a range of functions from drama classes and plays, bands, club, football and games nights, exhibitions, fashion and gallery shows as well as banquets and guest talks.
Barras Art and Design is located at Calton Entry just behind the famous Glasgow Barrowlands and it's only a 5 minutes walk from Argyle St in the city centre of Glasgow. The venue has its own events listing, but is also available for private hire.
The Courtyard
The courtyard is the focal point at Barras Art and Design this space is light and welcoming. The large open space lends itself well to showcase a wide variety of internal and external events. Reinforcing Glasgow's position as one of Europe's most exciting cities, A’Challtainn brings something truly unique and special to the table; a thoroughly contemporary venue dedicated to Glasgow's rich culinary landscape, with roots embedded in the city's rich history.
The BAaD courtyard will be a busy addition to Glasgow event calendar featuring amongst others vintage markets, art exhibitions, pop up shops, large scale events, street food markets, music gigs, theatre productions and craft fairs.
The Outdoor Yard
The Outdoor Yard at BAaD2 has a number of containers and space which are perfect for outdoor and semi outdoor events. Whatever the Glasgow weather the yard is perfect for eating, drinking and shopping. A creative space for creative ideas this space can be hired as part of the main space at BAaD or independently. Markets & Shops
The space at BAaD is complimented by a variety of independent shops and co-working spaces. This small community includes a record label and shop, upholsterer, publishers, dressmaker and craft workshop. The shops are an integral part of the Courtyard space and the public are encouraged to take time to explore the spaces. Some shops join BAaD on a pop up basis whereas some are becoming more permanent features, creating an every changing hive of activity and creativity.
